Accessing cPanel

cPanel Address

There's two main ways to access your domain's cPanel site. If you've just joined us, you can use the domain name of the server to access your site. Simply point your browser to

http:servername.net5.com.au/cpanel
</xterm>
where servername is the name of the server you've been allocated to.

Once your domain name has propagated, you can also use your own domain name to access your site's cPanel:
http:yourdomain.com/cpanel
</xterm>

Our cPanel servers are secured using the SSL (https) standard, which ensures your passwords and other confidential information is encrypted before transmission. You'll automatically be directed to this secure site. However, there's a few issues to be aware of:

  * If you're behind a firewall that blocks access to port 2083, then cPanel will revert to a non-secure version of the site. We strongly recommend you avoid this situation if possible — try contacting your network administrator, or modifying your network settings, to allow access to this port.

  * Net5's cPanel servers use “self-signed” certificates. These are identical to the certificates you can purchase from a number of companies, except for the fact that they're generated by our systems. Your information is just as secure as if we'd purchased a certificate. However, your web browser will invariably display a warning like one of the following:

<box 400px|Internet Explorer 6 SSL Warning>SSL warning in IE 6</box>

<box 510px|Firefox 3 SSL Warning></box>

If you have Firefox 3 and get the last image, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to add a certificate exception for our certificate (instructions, and some of the story behind this can be found here if you're interested)

You'll be presented at the standard cPanel login screen.
